What should I do first?
First, take a deep breath and check out my portfolio to get a feel for the kind of photos I create. (And maybe peek at the blog for some extra inspiration!) 🌟 When you’re ready to book, just email me! 📧 Sessions fill up pretty quickly (especially on weekends), so I recommend booking sooner rather than later. Let’s get you on the calendar!
What’s your style as a photographer?
While I will always strive to capture a few looking-at-the-camera-smiling photos, I’m all about capturing real, unposed moments—those little bursts of joy, love, and even a little chaos! I want your photos to tell the story of who you are, not just how you look. Forget about stiff poses or forced smiles—let’s just have fun, relax, and create something beautiful that feels like you. 💫
What’s the best way to dress for our session?
The most important thing is that you feel like you! I want everyone to be comfortable and confident, so there’s no need to overthink it. I am not the photographer who’s going to send you a fifteen page “What to Wear” guide before your session. I do recommend avoiding t-shirts with words on them (just because they can be a bit distracting in photos) and staying away from everyone-wearing-the-same-white-shirt look (it tends to feel a little outdated). But if you want more guidance or ideas, I’m here to help—just let me know what you’re envisioning, and we’ll figure it out together! 😊
What should we bring to the session?
For the little ones, I’d recommend bringing a change of clothes—just in case they take a spill or get a little messy during the fun! 🍂 Maybe bring a snack or water to keep the energy up (and keep things quick and mess-free). If your kiddo has a favorite lovey or toy, feel free to bring it along for a little comfort. I’m open to any props you want to bring—just let me know ahead of time. And if you might need to bribe with treats for a smile (no judgment, we’ve all been there), you can pack those, too! 😉
What if the weather is bad?
Ah, the joys of Northeast Ohio weather! 🌧️ While cloudy skies can actually be ok for photos (unless that golden hour glow is a non-negotiable for you), rain means we’ll need to reschedule. I’ll keep an eye on the forecast, and if it’s looking like rain on the day of your session, I’ll reach out to you to find a new time that works. We’ll make sure to capture your photos when the weather’s on our side!
What if my kids are acting up or my baby is cranky?
I totally get it—kids have their off days, and babies can be cranky no matter what you do. I’m here for all of it. 😅 I’m patient, understanding, and nonjudgmental, and I want you to feel comfortable knowing that your child’s behavior is totally okay with me. I don’t correct or discipline kids—that’s your role as parents or caregivers—but I’m happy to help redirect, make things light and fun, and create a relaxed space for everyone. Whether you have a neurodivergent child or one who’s just having a rough day, I will be kind, compassionate, and flexible to meet your child where they’re at. The goal is to capture your family as authentically as possible, and that includes moments of chaos and calm alike. We’ll take it at a pace that works for you, and I always strive to create a stress-free experience. 😊
How much retouching do you do to the photos?
I believe everyone is beautiful just as they are, and my editing reflects that. My goal is to enhance your natural beauty, not change it. I don’t alter body shapes or make drastic changes, and I avoid fixing wrinkles or clothing stains unless it’s something like a dirt or grass stain that happened during the session. I’m happy to remove scratches, bruises, and minor blemishes—because let’s face it, those are temporary and kids get bumps and bruises all the time! I use a little bit of skin smoothing (making sure to keep it looking natural) and focus on artistic enhancements to make each image shine. Ultimately, my aim is to capture you as you are—real, beautiful, and authentic. 💖
Do you charge for travel?
Nope! I’m happy to travel within the Northeast Ohio area, and that includes places like Cleveland, Akron, Canton, and all those lovely suburbs. We’ll talk about the perfect location for your session when we book! 💕
How long will our session last?
Family sessions typically last between 45 and 90 minutes, depending on the age of your kids and the type of session we’re doing. I always keep things relaxed and flexible, so if your little one needs a break or some extra time to warm up, we’ll take it! The goal is for everyone to have fun, so we won’t rush through it.
What if I need to reschedule?
Life happens, and I totally get it! If you need to reschedule, please give me at least 24 hours’ notice, and we’ll find a new date that works for you. No worries at all—I’m flexible and happy to work with your schedule! 😊
